Bloomberg Connects: A curator in your pocket
In collaboration with Bloomberg Connects
Audio tours are in and with Bloomberg Connects, you’re covered. This location-based app offers visitors unparalleled access to Amsterdam’s most iconic museums upon arrival, with in-depth information and custom introductions. You’ll be given a step-by-step audio (and written) guide of the space, each work and a custom map. Accessibility needs are catered for too through voiceovers, captions, audio transcripts or image zoom and font size adjustments, so nobody misses out on the experience. Try it out at H’ART Museum this weekend, with an immersive tour of Vermeer and Rembrandt.
Artus Quellinus – Sculptor of Amsterdam
In collaboration with The Royal Palace
From this week on, the Rijksmuseum and the Royal Palace Amsterdam are collaborating on a special exhibition for Amsterdam 750: Artus Quellinus – Sculptor of Amsterdam. The Palace will display more than 100 masterpieces by Quellinus, a Flemish sculptor who rose to fame during the Baroque period. This is the first major retrospective exhibition of his work, held at the site of his greatest masterpiece: the Royal Palace itself.
Artus Quellinus | 18 June - 27 October | Royal Palace Amsterdam, Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal 147
CONCERTS & GIGS
Jazz at the Plantage

Organised by H’ART Museum and in collaboration with Conservatorium van Amsterdam, this summer jazz series takes place on Sundays in the museum’s sun-dappled courtyard, where intimate jazz performances gently ease you into the late summer nights. And there are plenty more outdoor stages for you to explore this summer, if you know where to look.
Jazz at the Plantage | Sunday 22 June, 14:30 - 18:00 | H'ART Musem
Music of The Lord of the Rings

Howard Shore’s soundtrack to Tolkien’s epic has long earned its place in the halls of iconic cinematic scores and this weekend it makes an appearance in Amsterdam. Performed by the modern orchestra Mystery Ensemble, head to the Zuiderkerk where Middle Earth comes to life – hopefully minus the Orcs.
Music of The Lord of the Rings | Friday 20 June, 20:00-21:15 | Zuiderkerk
CLUBBING & NIGHTLIFE
A10 Afterparties

It’s Amsterdam’s big day on Saturday, 21 June, and the city’s going all out, especially after dark. These after-parties are not, quite literally, to be slept on:
RESTAURANTS & BARS
Hollands Visfestival (Dutch Fish Festival)
Chances are, if you’ve been to the Netherlands, you’ve partaken in some of their much-loved (and discussed) fish-based delicacies. And if you’re a fan of herring and other fish, the Dutch Fish Festival is right up your street. Celebrating Dutch seafood traditions in all their glory, head to Barracuda in Noord for all manner of fishy friends, where you can indulge in crustaceans and shellfish all Sunday afternoon. Did someone say fish?
Hollands Visfestival | 13:00-20:00 | Aambeeldstraat 10
Maracuyá by Night
Come this week, Maracuyá opens till late every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. This all-day coffee and lunch café – which takes its name from the Spanish word for passion fruit – serves up mostly vegan and seasonal food here;like a herby omelette and a zippy pearl couscous salad among others. As for the atmosphere, it leans heavily on the slower pace of life it draws inspiration from and makes for an establishment that operates under the premise that good things come to those who wait (a little). One for the warmer weather, indulge in wine and sunshine food on this corner of Oud West.
Maracuyá | Jan Pieter Heijestraat 95, Oud-West
FESTIVALS & EVENTS
Opera in the Park: Boris Godoenov

One of the Holland Festival’s most beloved and anticipated traditions arrives with the open-air screening of the programme’s biggest cultural events. This weekend, it’s the turn of the opera as Boris Gooenov’s Russian power spiel takes to the big screen in Park Frankendael, best enjoyed from your picnic blanket.
Opera in the Park | Sunday 22 June, 19:00-22:30 | Frankendael
